Procedure documentationDefining OBN Targets Locate this document in the navigation structure

In Visual Composer, defining a model as an OBN target is a step that associates a business object operation with the target model. This enables the page or iView, which is based on the model, to be available for an object-based navigation action initiated in runtime. For modeling OBN, you can use business objects from portal content or modeled business objects.

Prerequisites

  • A portal system containing business objects with operations, or a development component containing modeled business objects with operations, is available.

  • The active model on the Portal Layout board is a page or an iView.

For the models of pages and iViews, a circle appears on the left edge of the Portal Layout board. Moving the cursor over this circle displays the message "Drag operations from Search task panel here," if the object has no associated operations. If operations are already associated with the model, hovering over the circle with the cursor displays the operation names.

Procedure

  1. In the Search or Browse task panel, select a business object and expand it to view its operations.

    • If you are using the Browse task panel, expand the Business Objests folder and browse the business objects in the portal to which Visual Composer is configured.

    • If you are using the Search task panel, search for business object as follows:

      1. Select Business Objects in the Search in field.

      2. If you want a specific business object, enter a search parameter in the Search for field. (Asterisks (*) may be used as wildcards.)

      3. In the Type field, select either Business Object, to search in the portal, or Modeled Business Object, to search in the model repository.

      4. Click Search. The search returns a flat list of business objects.

  2. Select and drag the required operations, one at a time, on to the circle on the left edge of the active iView or page model.

    Note Note

If you use an operation from a modeled business object, it must be from the same development component as the iView or page model.

If you use a modeled operation from the DTR, it can be from any development component.

    End of the note.
  3. Save the model, deploy it to the portal, and, if relevant, check it into the DTR.
