The Portal Favorites iView allows users to store links providing direct access to the following Knowledge Management (KM) elements and portal navigation objects:

  • KM: folders, documents, contacts

  • Portal: pages, iViews that run as full-page applications (iViews that belong to a role or folder but are not part of a page)

Integration

The Portal Favorites iView is part of the Knowledge Management installation and is integrated into the portal through the relevant framework page (see Understanding Framework Pages. When the relevant properties are set:

  • The iView appears in the navigation panel

  • Both the page title bar Options menu and the relevant menu in the header area display an Add to Portal Favorites item, allowing users to store links to favorites.

You have installed Knowledge Management.

Activities

Properties to Set

  • To add a displayed portal page to your portal favorites, use the appropriate item in the page title bar Options menu. Enable the item by setting the property: Show 'Add to Portal Favorites' Option.

  • To add portal objects located in detailed navigation to portal favorites, use the relevant option in the Favorites menu in the header area. Enable the option by setting the following properties.

    • Show Menu in Masthead: Favorites

Accessing the Properties

  • To reach the necessary properties for either option, in the Portal Catalog navigate to   Portal Content   Portal Users   Standard Portal Users   Ajax Framework Content  , and in the context menu of the Ajax Framework Page, choose   Open   Page  .

    • To access the property that enables the Add to Portal Favorites option in the page title bar, select Ajax Page Toolbar and choose Open.

    • To access the properties that enable you to display the Add to Portal Favorites option in the Favorites menu in the header area, select the AFP Masthead and choose Open.
