Central Landscape and Transport Management
Note
This whole section is only valid if CMS was in use before. You should use the CM Services for new setup of landscapes. See Using CM Services.
Change Management Service (CMS) is part of SAP NetWeaver Development Infrastructure (NWDI). It is used to configure development landscapes and transport software changes.
To aid the central management of software developments, CMS communicates with the components Design Time Repository (DTR) and Component Build Service (CBS). A connection to System Landscape Directory (SLD) ensures that data such as software component definitions is stored centrally.
You use the CMS to perform the following tasks:
Configuration of a development landscape Configuration and administration of tracks for the development and distribution of software component versions in a development landscape.
Transport of software changes between systems of one track and between tracks.
