Procedure documentationChanging an Object ID Locate this document in the navigation structure

You can change the name, ID, and ID prefix of an object or folder using the Change ID action in the Portal Catalog context menu.

Caution Caution

When you change the ID of a folder, any manually set permissions for that folder are reset, and the folder inherits its permissions from the parent folder.

For more information, see SAP Note 1175412.

End of the caution.

The change ID action is controlled by an interactive wizard, which first performs a series of verification steps before proceeding. For more information, see Verification Criteria

Procedure

  1. In the Portal Catalog, from the context menu of the folder or object that you want to modify, choose Change ID. The Change ID wizard opens.

    Note Note

Until the ID modification has been completed, the wizard locks the following objects:

    • The selected object or folder, and the objects in the selected folder

    • The parent folder of the selected objects or folder

    • Dependent objects in other Portal Catalog locations

    End of the note.
  2. In the first, Summary, step of the wizard, review the displayed information to verify that the object or folder you have selected is correct.

  3. In the Change Details step, follow the wizard instructions to enter the appropriate values.

    Note Note

    • If you are changing the ID of a folder that contains objects, the new name and ID apply to the selected folder only; the object names and IDs are not affected.

    • The ID and ID prefix combined cannot exceed 100 characters.

    End of the note.
  4. Complete the wizard.

Result

You are notified once the selected objects have been successfully modified. All objects that were locked by the system as a result of the action are then released.

Note Note

If the action is interrupted, the Portal Catalog is restored to its initial state.

End of the note.
