User management for the SAP NetWeaver Development Infrastructure (NWDI) uses the mechanisms provided with the SAP NetWeaver Application Server Java, for example, tools, user types, and password policies. For an overview of how these mechanisms apply to the NWDI, see the sections below. In addition, we provide a list of the standard users required for operating the NWDI.

  • The Design Time Repository (DTR), the Component Build Service (CBS), and the Change Management Service (CMS) use the User Management Engine (UME) for their user management tasks. For more information, see Authorizations in Design Time Repository.

  • The System Landscape Directory (SLD) and the Name Server use the user management functions configured in the AS Java.

The standard user management setting in the AS Java is UME, that is, both components use the same user management functions.

User Types

It is often necessary to specify different security policies for different types of users. For example, your policy may specify that individual users who perform tasks interactively have to change their passwords on a regular basis, but not those users under which background processing jobs run.

Standard Users

The table below shows the standard users that are necessary for operating the NWDI. Once the NWDI configuration is done, it is no longer necessary to maintain the security roles and groups, you simply have to use the ones that are already created and configured.
