Use this procedure to find exact logs/traces that meet specific criteria. The following types of log filtering are available:

  • Filtering by data source

    Allows you to view log records from a particular host, system, Java instance or server process.

  • Filtering by log file and log type

    Allows you to view logs from a particular log directory on the relevant AS Java. You can also search for particular log/trace type.

  • Filtering by content

    Allows you to view logs, filtered by various criteria, such as severity, application, Log ID, date & time and so on.

  • Single field filtering

    Allows you to make extra filtering by a single log field.

Note Note

You can make a filter inactive and keep it for future use. For this purpose, deselect the Active indicator.

If you want to delete a filter, choose Delete this row (Delete this row).

Procedure

Filtering Log Records by Data Source
  1. Open the view, whose logs you want to filter.

  2. Choose Show Advanced Filter.

  3. To view all logs and traces from a server process, in the Filter by Data Source , select Get all logs from and in the adjacent field, enter a string for searching.

  4. For advanced search, choose .

    From the dialog box, choose Go and then, from the list, choose the relevant log directory.

  5. To view all logs and traces, excluding such in a particular server process, from the same dropdown box, select Exclude all logs from and in the adjacent field, enter a string for searching.

  6. Choose Apply Data Sources.

Filtering Log Records by Log File and Log Type
  1. Choose Show Advanced Filter.

  2. To search for log and trace records by name, in the Log Browser frame, select Log File named.

  3. From the adjacent dropdown box, select as or different from and in the adjacent field, enter a log/trace file name for searching.

  4. For advanced search, choose .

    From the dialog box, choose Go and then, from the list, choose the relevant log/trace name.

  5. To search for log and trace records by type, from the same dropdown box, select Log Type.

  6. From the adjacent dropdown box, select equals or does not equal.

  7. From the adjacent dropdown box, select ListLog or TextFormat.

  8. To merge list formatted logs and traces, check the Merge Logs If Possible indicator.

  9. Choose Apply Logs.

Filtering Log Records by Content
  1. Choose Show Advanced Filter.

  2. In the Filter by Content frame, select a content type for filtering.

  3. From the adjacent field, choose the relevant restrictive conditions.

  4. From the adjacent field, select or enter the content string for filtering.

  5. Choose Apply Filters.
