A lane is a subpartition of a pool in the process. You use lanes to organize and separate activities that are associated with different functions or roles in the process. You connect flow objects in separate lanes within a pool with a sequence flow. Each pool in the process has one default lane upon its creation. For more information, see Pools and Lanes.
When you create the lane, you have the option to define task owners of the tasks in that lane. For more information, see Defining Task Owners.
You have opened the Process Development perspective in the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio and have expanded your project in Project Explorer view.
You have created at least one pool that is different from the default pool, as the default one is not visualized in the process.
Expand Process Modeling, then expand Processes.
In the context menu of a process, choose Open.
Expand Swimlanes from Palette.
Choose Lane and click the name area of the pool.
Expand Process Modeling, then expand Processes.
In the context menu of a process, choose Open.
In the context menu of a pool, choose Create Lane.
Note
If there is only one lane in a pool, you cannot select the lane. The pool is automatically selected when you click the lane.
The new lane appears next to the default lane. You can resize a lane when you choose it and use its resize handlers. To specify a name and description for the lane, choose General in the Properties view.
