Procedure documentationModeling Reporting Activities Locate this document in the navigation structure

 

You model reporting activities to collect data from the process context and report on this data. The reporting activity must reference a reporting data source. The reporting activity collects the data from the process context and fills in the reporting data source fields. To make reporting activities work, you do the following:

  • Reference a reporting data source from the reporting activity.

  • Define input mapping from the process context.

Procedure

1. Create the Reporting Activity

  1. Expand the Process Modeling node, then expand the Processes node.

  2. In the context menu of a process, choose Open.

  3. Expand Flow Objects from the Palette.

  4. Choose Reporting from the dropdown menu containing all the activities, and click the modeling surface.

    The reporting activity appears in the place you clicked.

  5. On the General tab page in the Properties view, specify a name for the reporting activity in the Name field and optionally a description in the Documentation field.

2. Reference a Reporting Data Source

  1. Expand Process Modeling node, then expand Processes node.

  2. In the context menu of a process, choose Open.

  3. In the modeling surface, choose a reporting activity.

  4. Open the Reporting tab page in the Properties view.

  5. Select a reporting data source from the Data Source Name dropdown menu.

    You may also select New... from the dropdown menu and create a reporting data source using the process context. For more information, see Creating and Editing Reporting Data Sources.

3. Define Input Mapping

You need to define the input mapping from the process context to the reporting activity. Input mapping defines which data from the process context is collected by the reporting activity. For more information about mappings, see Defining Data Mappings.

Note Note

If you have created a reporting data source from the process context, you do not need to define the input mapping manually. The necessary input mappings from the process context are generated automatically in this case.
