User Management Engine (UME) can use a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) directory, database, or the ABAP user management of a SAP NetWeaver Application Server as a data source. Therefore, in most cases, no user data synchronization is necessary. For recommendations on when to use which data source, see Integration of User Management in Your System Landscape.
