The Design group of the Options pane (  Tools   Options  ) enables you to specify settings that affect the way items are displayed on the Design board.

The Design group contains the following items:

Description

Avoid overlapping shapes

Prevents elements from overlapping when placing them on the Design board. If this option is selected, when you drag and drop an element on top of another element on the Design board, it is automatically placed next to the original element, not on top of it.

Use Unicode font

Uses Unicode font to display all element text on the Design board.

Show borders

Displays a visible border around the model elements on the Design board.

Show grid

Displays horizontal and vertical grid lines on the Design board.

Snap to grid

Aligns elements to the nearest grid line when dragging them on the Design board.

Select elements partially within area

Selects elements located within and only partially within a bounding rectangle that you create by dragging on the Design board.

Line style

Specifies the shape of the connecting line to display between elements on the Design board.

Prompt before rename/delete field

Specifies that a confirmation prompt be displayed when you rename or delete a field in the Define Data dialog box. The confirmation prompt also contains a link that enables you to search for references to the field before you rename or delete it.

Prompt before Save All operation

Specifies that a confirmation prompt be displayed before all open models are saved (either before compiling, or when choosing the Save All operation explicitly).

Prompt when trying to modify read-only model

Specifies that a prompt be displayed when you try to modify a model that is read-only. The prompt enables you to choose to check out the model or continue working in read-only mode.

Always show warning before adding DC to Shared Repository

Specifies that a warning be displayed when adding a development component to a shared repository. The warning notifies the user that the model cannot be subsequently shipped or moved to the DTR.

Always save migrated models

Specifies that models created in an earlier version of Visual Composer should be saved in the current format, even if it means that they can no longer be opened in the earlier version.

Always save models from later versions

Always saves models from a later version of Visual Composer when opened in an earlier version, even though they will lose functionality from the later version.
