Procedure documentation Creating the RFC Destination on Application Server Java  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

The RFC destination on the Application Server Java is an RFC server that is called by the BI system as an RFC client. The connection is required to display content from the portal in the BI system. The RFC destination is then used when creating the RFC destination for the portal.

Procedure

To create an RFC destination in the Application Server Java, execute the following steps:

       1.      Start the Visual Administrator using <PORTAL_DIRECTORY>\admin\go.bat.

       2.      Connect to the portal server.

       3.      In the tree, choose <SID>/Server<#>/Services/JCo RFC Provider.

       4.      Create an RFC destination:

       Program ID: <PORTAL_HOSTNAME>_PORTAL_<SID>

The program ID is the name of the registered server program.

Portal Directory: The portal directory is used to start the Visual Administrator. The file ./admin/go.bat must exist under this directory. The Visual Administrator can also be installed locally on the administrator’s PC so that the portal server can be accessed remotely.

       Gateway Host: <GATEWAY_HOST>

       Gateway Service: sapgw<SYSTEM_NUMMER>

       Number of Processes (1..20): 20

Application Server Host: See Gateway Host

       System Number: <SYSTEM_NUMBER>

       Client: <BW_CLIENT>

       Language: EN

User: <USER> (User in the BI system)

       Password:      <PASSWORD>

BI User and BI Password: The Application Server Java uses the BI user and the BI password to query the RFC function module signatures in the BI system. The user can be compared to ALEREMOTE.

       5.      Add the RFC destination to the available RFC destinations by choosing Set.

       6.      Start the RFC server by choosing Start.

Check

The RFC destination can be checked using the transaction Display and Maintain RFC Destinations (transaction SM59).
