After full installation, and before manual configuration, you can run the configuration wizard to initially set up the SAP NetWeaver Business Process Management (BPM). The configuration wizard saves you time and manual steps.

Note Note

Only run the configuration wizard directly after installation. If you have modified your BPM already, or if you have upgraded from an older release, do not use the configuration wizard. In this case, perform the manual configuration steps. For more information about manual configuration, see Configuring the Notification Messages Service.

End of the note.

Procedure

To carry out the wizard-based initial setup for BPM, perform the following steps:

  1. Start your SAP NetWeaver Administrator at http://<host>:<httpport>/nwa

  2. Choose   Configuration Management   Scenarios   Configuration Wizard  .

  3. Choose All Configuration Tasks.

There are three configuration templates and one template that includes all three of them. To find the right tasks more quickly, enter a filter in the first row, for example, BPM.

    Template

    Description

    BPM All Configuration Tasks Combined

Applies all three BPM configuration templates

BPM Default Configuration Settings for Local and Timezone

For process context parameter of the data types time and date a default is defined for localization.

    BPM Mail Server Connectivity

Configures a default mail server connection for the e-mails that are sent to notify when a new task is in the e-mail recipient's inbox.

    BPM Notification Messages Configuration

Defines who receives a notification when a new or reassigned task is in the inbox: all potential processors or only new actual processors.

  4. In the task list, select the BPM configuration templates you want to apply. To apply all three templates, select the BPM All Configuration Tasks Combined template.

  5. Choose Start.

  6. Depending on which BPM configuration templates you have selected in the previous steps, enter the following data:

    • BPM Mail Server Connectivity

Enter the following mail server connectivity data: Host (for example, mail.company.com). User (for example, myuser), E-Mail Address (for example, me@mail.com), Password and Security (secure connection with SSL/TLS)

      Caution Caution

You can configure only one mail server to retrieve the notification e-mails sent. If this server is down or not reachable, notifications will be lost. This can result in not meeting the deadline for a task and therefore cause a delay in execution of the business process. If you rely on e-mail notifications, you need to ensure the provision of a reliable e-mail infrastructure.

      End of the caution.
    • BPM Notification Messages Configuration

Select whether a notification message should be sent in case of delegation or nomination (notification.assigned property).

Select whether all potential owners get a message when a new task is in the inbox and whether the actual processor is informed when an existing task was reassigned (notification.newtasks property).

In addition, enter the URL (Base URL) used for e-mail messages links to the UWL and the task execution UI.

  7. Choose Next.
