The components table in the SAP Management Console (SAP MC) can be used to start and stop both applications and services.

Prerequisites

You have administrative permission to start, stop, or restart applications or services. Depending on the AS Java server and the sapstartsrv version either operation system or AS Java administrative permission are required.

Procedure

  • Proceed as follows to start or stop components:

    1. In the navigation view, select the instance node   AS Java   Components Table  .

    2. Choose the application or service you want to start or stop.

    3. From the context menu, choose the required command.

When you stop an application or service, dependent applications and services are also stopped.

    Note Note

You cannot stop “core services”, instead an error message pops up. In the user interface there is no distinction between core and non core services.

    End of the note.
  • Proceed as follows to configure system properties for components:

Some applications and services have system properties that can be changed at runtime.

    1. From the Components Table select the application or service you want to configure and, from the context menu, choose Configure.

    2. You will be asked if you want to see the system properties for the whole cluster or only for the selected instance.

    3. The Component Properties view shows up.

    4. For the property to be changed, select the Custom checkbox and enter the new value.

    5. Save your input. The Save button becomes inactive.

    6. When the changes have been applied to the server, the Save button becomes active again.
