Navigation Zoom |
New |
The navigation zoom feature enables users to view isolated subject areas of the portal separately from the rest of the portal. Content administrators can define a navigation node in the Detailed Navigation iView as a navigation zoom point. At runtime, navigation zoom points appear as folders with an arrow inside the folder icon. Clicking a navigation zoom point replaces the main portal screen with a screen displaying a subset of the navigation hierarchy. Clicking the arrow beside the navigation zoom point in the Detailed Navigation iView expands that folder to reveal its contents, without replacing the portal screen. Administrators can also define a different portal desktop and title for the navigation zoom. More Information: Configuring Navigation Zoom |
Adding Tooltips to Navigation Nodes |
New |
Administrators can now add tooltips to navigation nodes. The tooltip appears at runtime in top-level navigation, detailed navigation, workset maps, and service maps. In the administration environment, the tooltip also appears when hovering over the tab of the object editor. The tooltip does not appear when the portal is in accessibility mode. More information: Adding Tooltips to Navigation Nodes |
Preloading Roles to the Navigation Cache |
New |
The cachepreloader service allows you to upload all of a user’s roles into the navigation cache. Administrators can specify multiple user IDs, and when the cachepreloader service starts, all of the roles belonging to the specified users are uploaded into the cache. More information: Configuring the Navigation Cache |
Top-level Navigation Overflow |
New |
An overflow menu has been added to the Top-Level Navigation iView in the portal. More Information: Configuring Levels of Top-Level Navigation |
Pictograms in Service Maps and Workset Maps |
Enhanced |
The Pictogram is Clickable property has been added to the Service Map iView and the Workset Map iView. This allows you to specify whether the images in the service map or workset map can be clicked. Clicking on the pictogram triggers navigation to first-level items. More information: Navigation with a Service Map and Navigation with a Workset Map |
Sorting Top-Level Navigation Entries |
Enhanced |
Until now, entry points in top-level navigation were always sorted according to sort priority. You can now configure the navigation_events_helper service to sort the nodes alphabetically, or first by sort priority and then alphabetically. More information: Defining the Sort Sequence of Navigation Nodes |
Detailed Navigation |
Changed |
The Display Parent of Hidden Node property enables administrators to determine whether the first visible parent of an invisible object is displayed in detailed navigation. The default value of this property has been changed to Yes. More information: Features Enabled Through DTN Properties |
URL iViews

Setting Language-Specific URLs |
New |
You can now define more than one source URL for Web-based URL iViews (refer to Creating Web-based URL iViews). Apart from the default URL, which is not language-specific, you can define any number of additional URLs; each one corresponding to a different language. If a portal user's language matches a language defined in the iView, then the corresponding language-specific URL will be executed at runtime. The default URL functions as the fallback URL if no language-specific URL matches the user's language. Defining multiple URLs per iView is useful for sites that support multiple languages by means of language-specific URLs; for example, you can define URLs that are language variants of the default www.google.com URL of Google, such as www.google.de and www.google.jp. In other cases, you can define in the same iView, variant URLs that reference different Web sites. More information: Adding Language-Specific URLs |
New Data Types for Dynamic Queries |
New |
URL iViews now include two new data types for URL parameters:
Before the iView sends a request to its target URL at runtime, the iView first sends a query to the UME or PRT, as defined by the content administrator. The value returned by the query is then integrated on-the-fly into the iView's URL at runtime, instead of the static parameter value. The parameters are available for editing in the URL iView Editor. More information: Configuring URL Parameters |
Setting Dynamic Runtime URLs |
New |
The URL for a URL iView can now be set by a request parameter, instead of just by a property of the URL iView. This feature is helpful if you want to be able to display many different Web pages, but you do not want to create a URL iView for each Web page. Now, you can create one URL iView and send the URL in a request parameter. More information: Setting a Dynamic Runtime URL |
