The usage profile defines the set of object types, software component versions, and business modeling filters that you can use. They are filters that enable you to view and work with only a set of objects required to achieve your goals. Depending on which of the goals you wish to pursue, you need to choose a usage profile when you log on to the ES Repository.

More information: Usage Profile

Prerequisites

You should import the software component version SAP Basis 7.11 or higher content into the ES Repository to use the standard usage profiles delivered by SAP, or create new ones.

Procedure

Choosing the Usage Profile When Starting the ES Builder
  1. Log on to the Enterprise Services Builder. If you are logging on to the ES Builder for the first time, the Select Usage Profile dialog box is displayed.

If you are already assigned a usage profile by your administrator, you will not be asked to make a selection during log on. However, if you are not assigned a usage profile, then you are not allowed to login to the ES Builder.

If you have logged into the ES Builder before, then this dialog box is displayed again when the administrator:

    • Deletes the selected usage profile

    • The user groups or roles assigned to the selected usage profile does not match the current user credentials (group or role or user).

    Note Note

If you are using a new system without SAP Basis content, then you are assigned a default usage profile during login. Once you import the SAP Basis 7.11 or higher content, the default profile is disabled and you can choose from the list of usage profiles assigned to you.

    End of the note.
  2. Choose the usage profile you require.

You can choose from the usage profiles that are assigned to you.

  3. Select Choose.

  4. The system starts the ES Builder.

    Note Note

Once you specify a usage profile, it is stored as your personal setting and you will then not be asked to select a usage profile the next time you log on to the ES Builder. If you then later wish to change the usage profile, you must follow the directions below.

    End of the note.
Changing the Usage Profile After Starting the ES Builder

If you would like to change the usage profile after you have already started the ES Builder, proceed as follows:

  1. In the navigation area of the application toolbar, choose the Change Filter Settings pushbutton.

  2. Choose Change Usage Profile.

  3. Choose a usage profile from the drop down list.

  4. Select Choose.

Note Note

If you change the ARIS filter for a usage profile, you should re-login to the ES Builder for the changes to take effect.

End of the note.
