Procedure documentationExporting a Model Locate this document in the navigation structure

You can export a model from any repository (local repository, shared repository or source-control repository) by packaging all of its model files (XML and GML files) in a compressed zip file and saving it to your file system (either on your local computer or on a computer in your network).

When you export a model, you can choose to export with it any components referenced from or nested in the selected model. The files of each component are stored in a separate zip file, and then all of the zip files are combined into a single zip file and saved in the location you specify.

You can then take the exported zip file and send it to other modelers, or reimport the component at a later date.

Procedure

  1. Start the model export in one of two ways:

    • From the open model, choose   Model   Export  .

    • From the Manage task panel, browse to the model to be exported and choose Export Model from its context menu.

The Export dialog box is displayed. In the Model field, the name of the open model is displayed in the format <software component>\<development component>\<model name>.

  2. To export the component together with all its dependent components, select the Export dependent models checkbox. If left unselected, only the top-level model will be exported, without its dependent components.

  3. Click Export. The File Download dialog box is displayed.

  4. Click Save. The Save As dialog box is displayed.

  5. Use the Save in dropdown list to navigate to the folder to which you want to export the model and click Save.

  6. Click Close to complete the export process.

Result

The model files are saved in a zip file that you can distribute or use as required.
