Configuration of SAP
NetWeaver CE
This guide provides information about system setup after installation. To ensure a consistent configuration, you first have to be able to distinguish between the following two main configuration scenarios:
● Initial Configuration
You have just installed SAP NetWeaver CE on your system and you have not yet configured it. The configuration wizard supports your initial configuration steps in this scenario.
● Changing an Existing Configuration Manually
You have already configured your SAP NetWeaver CE system. In this main configuration scenario you must not run the configuration wizard again for components that have already been configured after a system copy, after an upgrade to a new release, or after an update to a new support package.
...
After installing SAP NetWeaver CE, use the configuration wizard in SAP NetWeaver Administrator to set up your system for the installed capabilities. After automatic configuration, you may need to adjust the resulting configuration manually depending on your installation and implementation scenario.
More information: Wizard-Based Configuration

If you use SAP Solution Manager you can document your configuration steps in an implementation project to make it easier to make changes to a completed configuration later on.
If you have an already configured the SAP NetWeaver CE system but need to adjust the configuration, you must first check your existing configuration:
● Most of the configuration tasks of the configuration wizard can only be run once – running them for a second time would invalidate your configuration. You can identify completed tasks as their status will show that they have been finished successfully.
● If you run configuration tasks for new components, be sure to comply with the sequence given by dependencies between components.
More information: See step 2 in section Wizard-Based Configuration.
● If you have used SAP Solution Manager, check your implementation project to find out about the manual configuration changes applied in your SAP NetWeaver CE system.
Detailed information about the wizard-based configuration and the manual configuration is found in the following sections:
● Initial System Configuration
This section describes the configuration steps required for configuring capabilities of the Java Application Server.
● Configuration for CE Additional Components
In this section, you can find information about the configuration tasks required for the additional SAP NetWeaver CE installation options.
● Database Configuration for SAP MaxDB
This section explains how to change the default settings of your SAP MaxDB database, if it is necessary.
SAP Web Dispatcher is not a part of SAPNetWeaver CE: It is a standalone program that you can use for load balancing of Web requests (HTTP, HTTPS) among the instances of your CE system. This documentation explains its use and architecture, as well as how to get, install, and configure the Web Dispatcher.
● Advanced Configuration Tasks
This section provides more information about advanced configuration tasks that you may perform on-demand after completing the initial system setup.
