XML Data Archiving Configuration Steps for
JAVA Applications
The following configuration steps are aimed at data archiving administrators who want to use XML archiving sets and run, test, and monitor the XML Data Archiving Service, as well as developers of XML archiving objects.
Before you begin you should be familiar with the concepts of XML-based archiving. For more information see:
●
XML-based Data
Archiving: General concepts involved in data archiving, focusing both on
XML-based archiving in ABAP and Java environments.
●
Administration
Functions for Information Lifecycle Management: Technological components
to support Information Lifecycle Management and XML-based
archiving.
○
Administration of the
XML Data Archiving Service: Detailed explanation of the administration
tasks that are performed using this administration user interface
(UI).
○
Java Archiving
Cockpit: Detailed explanation of how to monitor and administer Java
archiving sessions using this central UI.
○
ILM Store Browser:
Detailed explanation of how to browse the archive hierarchy and view specific
information about collections and resources.
To be able to follow these configuration steps you need to have an Application Server Java (AS Java) installation, including a SAP NetWeaver Administrator (NWA). A standalone AS Java is sufficient. An add-in installation is possible as well.
For configuration steps using the NWA configuration wizard see Wizard-Based Configuration.
To manually configure the XML Data Archiving environment for Java applications you must first understand and identify your deployment scenario and then follow several configuration steps in the order they are listed:
● Components and Deployment Scenarios
● Creating Users and Assigning Roles
● Configuring the XML Data Archiving Service
