Service interfaces in the ES Repository have the object property Release State, which SAP uses to inform customers of the development status of the object. The release state of the object determines whether the customer can or cannot use the object, and whether restrictions apply.
The release status of service interfaces developed by SAP can only be set by SAP.
If SAP or a customer creates a service interface in the ES Repository, the service interface has the release status Not Released. With its internal development process for SAP-developed service interfaces, SAP ensures that the possible release statuses are connected with each other in the following way during the life cycle of a service interface:
There are still no service interfaces or release statuses in the Integration Repository of SAP NetWeaver 2004 and SAP NetWeaver 7.0. The message interfaces available there are migrated to service interfaces in the following situations:
● If you import message interfaces from an Integration Repository of one of the releases named above into the Enterprise Services Repository.
● If you execute an upgrade from an Integration Repository from one of the releases named above on the Enterprise Services Repository.
In these situations the ES Builder assigns service interfaces created due to migration in the ES Repository the release status Not Defined.
Objects with this release state have not yet been released by SAP and cannot be used by customers in the current release.

Possible state changes |
SAP may later set the release state of the object to Released or Revoked. In the latter case, the object does not pass through the Released and Deprecated phases (see figure). |

Support |
SAP provides support for this object. |
Possible state changes |
SAP may decide to no longer use the object in a future release. In this case, SAP will set the object to Deprecated before revoking the release. |
Objects in this state will no longer be used by SAP in future releases. This state is a temporary one, to inform customers of the transition from Released to Revoked. This gives customers time to make any changes made necessary by the change to the release state. For each object with release state Deprecated, SAP provides a replacement object and the release in which the state was changed to Deprecated (for reference purposes). Objects in this state can still be used in the release in which they were set to Deprecated.
Stability |
SAP guarantees that the object will remain stable for the current release but informs customers that the release will be revoked in a future release. For more information about how long you can still use the object, see the general SAP release strategy. |
Support |
SAP provides support for this object as long as it has the state Deprecated. |
Possible state changes |
SAP changes the state to Revoked as soon as the transition phase is complete. |
Objects in this state were released for use in a previous release (either with or without restrictions). SAP has revoked this release. Customers can no longer use objects with this release state.
Stability |
SAP leaves the object in the ES Repository. It must no longer be used. |
Support |
SAP does not offer any support for this object. |
Possible state changes |
