The Edit Data Series dialog box enables you define the data series to display in the chart. A data series is a set of related data points from a data source that are plotted in a chart. Each data series is automatically assigned a unique default color at runtime. You can plot one or more data series in a chart. Pie charts have only one data series.
You display the Edit Data Series dialog box by clicking the browse button next to the Data series field in the Configure Element task panel.
The Edit Data Series dialog box contains the following items:
Item |
Description |
---|---|
Add Row |
Adds a data series to the list. |
Delete Row |
Deletes the selected data series. |
Move Up |
Moves the selected data series one place up in the list (one place left in the chart). |
Move Down |
Moves the selected data series one place down in the list (one place right in the chart). |
Data Series |
The name of the data series you are defining. You can accept the default name, or enter a new name. Note Pie charts support only a single data series; any additional data series that you define are ignored. Other chart types support the use of multiple data series. End of the note. |
Formula |
The data source to be displayed in the chart for the selected data series. Click the field and choose Define expression from the context menu to open the Dynamic Expression Editor dialog box. Use the Dynamic Expression Editor dialog box to select the data fields to use as the data source. You can also define a formula that combines data fields, functions, and operators to create the required data source for the data series. More information: Working with Dynamic Expressions |
