You use the Find All Expressions dialog box to search for all expressions in a component. For example, expressions defined using the Dynamic Expression Editor dialog box, values entered in fields that can be edited using the Dynamic Expression Editor dialog box, references to fields and views (tables and forms) defined in the Define Action dialog box, conditions defined in an operator dialog box, and so on. After displaying the list of expressions, you can sort them, review them, modify them, look for errors, and locate them on the Design board and Layout board.

You display the Find All Expressions dialog box by choosing   Tools   Find All Expressions  .

The Find All Expressions dialog box contains the following items:

Item

Description

Search result

Displays the name of the model in which the search was performed, and the number of expressions that were found in the search. For example, Found 35 references in Scenario10.

Refresh

Searches through the open model for expressions and updates the list accordingly.

Element

The name and icon of the element that contains the expression. You can click the element name to highlight it on the Design board or Layout board.

Property

The name of the element property whose value is defined as an expression or reference.

Expression

The expression or reference string.

Edit Expression

Opens the relevant editor (for example, the Define Action dialog box, the Define Filter dialog box, or the Dynamic Expression Editor dialog box), so you can modify the expression.

If you modify an expression in the Dynamic Expression Editor dialog box, the change is automatically reflected in the Find All Expressions dialog box. If you modify an expression in any other dialog box, the item is marked in gray. Click Refresh to update the Find All Expressions dialog box with the modified expression.
