Procedure documentation Defining OBN Targets  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

In Visual Composer, defining a model as an OBN target is a simple step that enables the page or iView based on that model to be available for object-based navigation.

More information, Object-Based Navigation

Note

OBN source objects, iViews from which object-based navigation is initiated, are created in development environments outside of Visual Composer.

Prerequisites

·        A system containing business objects and operations is available.

·        The active model on the Portal Layout board is a page or an iView.

For the models of pages and iViews, a circle appears on the left edge of the Portal Layout board. Moving the cursor over this circle displays the message "Drag operations from Search panel here."

Procedure

...

       1.      In the Search task panel, define a search for the required business object:

                            a.      Select Business Objects in the Search in field

                            b.      If you are looking for a specific business object, enter a search parameter in the Search for field. Asterisks (*) may be used as wildcards.

                            c.      Click Search.

       2.      Drag the required operations, one at a time, onto the circle on the left edge of the active iView or page model.

       3.      Save the model, deploy it to the portal, and, if relevant, check it into the DTR.

Moving the cursor over the circle on the left edge of the Portal Layout board now displays the names of the operations attached to the model.

Result

The portal object, whether an iView or a page, becomes a target for object-based navigation from any navigation source having the same business object operation.
