Use

The template for a Web service system defines the specific parameters needed to consume a Web service, and contains a reference to the Web service connector. The Web service system inherits these properties, some with default values, others that require the setting of values. You edit the system by inserting needed property values and by modifying default values, if necessary.

The template contains many properties, not all of which can be edited, and not all of which are necessary for establishing a connection and consuming a Web service.

The table below lists the properties needed to define connectivity to a Web service. Each has an explanation of the value that should be set.

       1.      From top-level navigation (TLN), choose System Administration System Configuration.

       2.      From Detailed Navigation, choose System Landscape.

       3.      In the Portal Catalog, right-click the system whose properties you want to edit, and from the drop-down list choose Open Object. This opens the System Landscape Editor.

       4.      Set your Web service system properties according to the details in the table below.

      Logon Method

         Authentication method for consuming the web service

         Default value: NONE

         Valid values: NONE/UIDPWD

      User Mapping Type

Defines the type of user mapping needed for connection; who can perform user mapping

Category: Web Service

 

      Force SAP UI Parameter Management

         Declares whether the Web service adheres to the SAP UI Parameters standard.

         Rearranges input/output parameters to adhere to SAP UI recommendations, for example, each element of the input data type appears either 0 or 1 time but no arrays or tables are allowed.

      WSDL Caching (days)

         Defines the WSDL caching period in days. If WSDL is not changed frequently, caching increases performance

         Default value: 1 (day)

         Valid values: none/1/30/infinite

      WSDL URL

The WSDL URL of the Web service

Category: Info

The property values in this category are assigned during the running of the System wizard and, except for Name and Description, are not for editing.

      Description

An optional, textual representation of the system

      System Name

         The name assigned to the system when the system was created

         Mandatory

      Object Type

         Defines the type of the component; for example, system, page, iView, and so on

         When importing components, the search could be based on this property

         Assigned automatically when you launch the System wizard

      Connection Factory Class

         The name of the connector on which the system is based, or through which it connects

         Mandatory when working with a connector

 

       5.      Save your settings and close the System Landscape Editor.
