Process documentation Configuration of User Management in the Portal  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Purpose

This process describes the minimum configuration options for the user management engine (UME) in the SAP NetWeaver Portal.

Process Flow

...

       1.      Log on to the portal with an administrator user. The logon ID and password of the super administrator user depends on how you configured user management during installation. For more information, see Standard Users.

Example

For example, if you configured the UME to use the database of the SAP NetWeaver Application Server (AS) Java as the data source, you log on with the user Administrator and the password you defined during the installation.

Note

If the following is true:

You have just finished installing the portal.

You are using an ABAP data source.

The AS Java administrators group (a PFCG role in the ABAP system) is not called SAP_J2EE_ADMIN.

You intend to share roles between the portal and ABAP system.

Then the system does not automatically assign this group the portal Super Administrationrole. Log on as the administrator (for example, J2EE_ADMIN) and assign the AS Java administrator group the portal Super Administration role. For more information about role assignment, see Assigning Principals to Roles or Groups.

       2.      Determine if you want to change the data source of the UME to an LDAP directory.

This option is only available if you installed the AS Java with the database as the data source. For more information, see Configuring the UME to Use an LDAP Directory as Data Source.

       3.      Assign a portal role to the default group Everyone.

This ensures that all users have a portal role assigned. Without a role, users see a blank page when they log on to the portal.

Recommendation

If this group does not have a role assigned to it, we recommend that you assign the role: pcd:portal_content/every_user/general/eu_role.

       4.      Perform any other configuration tasks for the UME.

For more information about UME configuration options, see UME Configuration.
