The federated portal network (FPN) capabilities of SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment (NWCE) allow you to maintain your NWCE portal as the development and runtime environment for composite applications, and to integrate them into an remote corporate portal running on SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (NW 7.0).
In this release, the following enhancements have been made to the FPN capabilities:
● Remote delta links - a new content usage mode for sharing content across portals
You can now integrate portal content objects, such as iViews, pages, worksets, and roles, into a remote consumer portal by means of remote delta links.
The implementation of the remote delta link enhancement encompasses the following:
○ Standard delta link behavior in a standalone portal also applies to remote delta links:
■ Remote-based content on the NW 7.0 consumer portal is synchronized with its source content on a remote NWCE 7.1 producer portal.
■ Remote-based content on the consumer portal can be modified without being overwritten later on as result of upgrades or updates to its source content on the producer portal.
○ At runtime, remote applications are launched and rendered on the producer portal.
○ Remote delta link content is integrated as local content on the consumer portal. From an end user perspective, the behavior of remote-based content in the federation is completely transparent.
Note that this usage mode is an alternative option to the remote role assignment mode that has been available in NWCE until now.
