Procedure documentation Testing the Connection to a Producer

Applicable to: remote role assignment, remote delta links, WSRP application sharing

Use

You can use the Producer Connection test to check if your portal can connect as a consumer to a remote producer portal.

The test performs the following checks:

...

       1.      Checks if a valid producer object is available on your portal.

       2.      Opens a connection to the handshake URL of the producer and checks if it can receive the designated WSDL file.

       3.      Parses the WSDL file and checks if it can extract the ServiceDescription and Markupport definitions in the WSDL file necessary for a WSRP-based connection.

We recommend that you test the connection to a producer before you register it in the Producer Registration Editor.

Prerequisites

You have access to the federated portal administration tools in the standard System Admin role on your portal.

You have created a producer object that represents the remote system (see Adding Producers).

You have been assigned at least administrator read-writepermission to the producer object.

Note

The producer may inherit the permission assigned to its parent folder in the Portal Catalog. For example, NetWeaver Content Producers or WSRP Content Producers.

Procedure

...

       1.      In the consumer portal, launch the System Connection Tests tool as follows:

¡        If you are currently editing the producer object that represents the remote producer portal with which you want to test the connection, then from the Display dropdown list in the object editor toolbar, select Connection Tests.

¡        If you are not editing producer object, then do the following:

...

                                                  i.       Navigate to System Administration Federated Portal Myself as Content Consumer Manage My Producers.

ii.       In the Portal Catalog, navigate to the producer object that represents the remote producer portal with which you want to test the connection.

iii.       In the context menu of the producer object, choose Open Connection Tests in the context menu.

The System Connection Tests tool is displayed.

       2.      Select the checkbox of the Producer Connection test.

       3.      Choose Test.

Result

The details of the test and the results are displayed on the screen.

If a connection test does not succeed, we recommend you check the following:

There are no problems with your portal, your network, or the producer portal.

The WSDL file is located in the folder published by the producer (relevant to non-SAP producers only).

The WSDL file contains the mandatory WSRP information (relevant to non-SAP producers only).

The proxyservice is running and configured correctly (see Configuring Proxy Settings).
