Searching and Browsing Service GroupsLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

Service groups represent design time entities. A service group bundles all service calls that are provided by the same logical service provider. Developers of consuming applications can create them in their development environment and can publish them to Services Registry. In Services Registry, service groups represent the service consuming side.

You can use Services Registry to search, modify, and delete service groups created on AS Java. The search is based on the service group name and classification groups. If you already know the classification of the service group you are looking for, you can browse through it to find the service group.

For more information about service groups, see Creating Service Groups and Publishing Service Groups from the SAP NetWeaver Administrator .

Prerequisites

The user account you use to manage service groups is assigned to the SERVICES_REGISTRY_READ_WRITE and also to one of the UDDI_TierN or UDDI_Admin roles. For more information, see Services Registry Roles .

Procedure

Searching Service Groups

  1. Access the central Services Registry using an address in the following format: http://[hostname]:[port]/sr_central .

  2. Choose ServiceGroup .

  3. Choose Search .

  4. If you know the name of the service group you are looking for, enter it in Find field.

If you do not know the exact name of the service group, you can use wildcards to substitute part of the name. Use an asterisk (*) when you want to substitute any number of characters. Use a question mark (?) when you want to substitute only one character. If you use an asterisk only, the search returns all service groups available.

  5. To improve the search results, you can provide the following search criteria:

    • Select a provider system from the Systems dropdown menu.

    • If you want to find a service group that uses a specific classification system, choose Advanced .

You can choose one or multiple entries by copying them from the Available Classifications table on the left-hand side to the Selected Classification table on the right-hand side.

  6. Choose Go .

Browsing Classifications to Find Service Groups

  1. Choose Browse .

  2. Select a classification system.

  3. Expand the classification hierarchy to locate the service group you need.

Result

The system displays all service groups that meet the specified search criteria in a table. This table can display a predefined number of results. In case the result of your search is greater than this number you can change the maximum number of displayed results. For more information, see Configuring Services Registry Search Settings .

You can choose a service group and view detailed information about it by choosing the corresponding tab:

  • Choose General or System Details to obtain basic details about the service group.

  • Choose Services References to display a list with all service definitions that are referenced in the service group.

  • Choose Classifications to display a list with all classification systems with which this service group is classified.

In case you need to modify the service group details, you can choose Edit and change the description and the system, and add or remove classifications. To update the classification of several service groups at once, you can select them while holding the Ctrl key pressed. When you do this, the system displays only classifications that are common for the selected service groups.

If you need to remove service groups from Services Registry, you can select them in the table with the search results and choose Delete .
