Analyzing the Performance OfflineLocate this document in the navigation structure

Context

These are the main steps for analyzing the performance while being offline (not connected to the database).

Prerequisites

Database Analyzer data has already been collected and downloaded from the respective database's server.

Procedure

  1. Start Database Studio.
  2. Set the "Repository" preferences if not yet done (see Defining Local Locations for remote Database Analyzer Data for details).
  3. Restart Database Studio after defining the repository links.
  4. Set the metric folder preferences if you want to work with previously defined or other Metric Templates stored in a remote folder (see Specifying the Location for Remote Metric Templates for details).
  5. Set the associated editor if not yet done (see Settings for Working offline with Database Analyzer Data for details).
  6. Navigate to the repository folder Diagnosis Local Folder or Diagnosis Shared Folder respectively.
  7. Navigate to the Database Analyzer log files directory of interest. Either to a date folder or to the respective CSV file.
  8. Choose one or more date folders and open the chart in two several ways:
    1. Double click a CSV file, or
    2. Choose Display via Metric Template from the context menu and select an suitable Metric Template.
  9. If you have chosen two or more date folders: Choose Merge via Metric Template from the context menu and select an suitable Metric Template.
  10. In the chart window you can
    1. Select additional columns for being displayed as graph.
    2. Choose a time span (use the rigth scale).
    3. Export charts to image files.
    4. Save the analysis as Metric Template.
