Configuring an Event ProviderLocate this document in the navigation structure

How to define the logical port(s) for an event provider.

Prerequisites

An event provider. See Generating an Event Provider.

Context

Once an event provider is created in the Enterprise Services Repository (ESR), you must define the logical port(s) for it. In other words, you must specify the Web service provider(s) that messages from the event provider will be sent to.

The procedure for configuring an event provider is basically the same as for a standard consumer proxy. See Configuring a Service Consumer.

The main difference is that, for each logical port, you must explicitly enable the operations of the event provider.

Procedure

  1. Open SOA Manager and go to the Service Administration tab.
  2. Select Web Service Configuration.
  3. Search for the event provider you want to create the logical port(s) for.

    In the Search Criteria, select Consumer Proxy as the Object Type.

    Use other search criteria as required to fine-tune our search.

  4. Choose Create and select one of the configuration types.
    You cannot use Logical Shortcut Configuration, because it does not allow the activation of individual operations (see Step 6, below).
  5. Enter information about the logical port as required for each step. See Configuring a Consumer Proxy for details.
  6. In the Event Provider Settings, enable the required operations.
    Note This last step is unique to logical ports for event providers and is not available for service consumer configuration.
    Note These settings are not available if you selected Process Integration Runtime. Instead, the enabling of the operations is performed in the Process Integration (PI) module.

    All operations for the event provider are listed. Enable one or more operations for each logical port. This feature allows you to control which Web services are called for specific operations.

  7. Click Finish.
    The logical port is saved and activated. The list of logical ports is displayed and you can ping and test the web service by clicking the Ping Web Service icon in the Actions column.
