
If you have installed SAP NetWeaver PI Advanced Adapter Engine Extended (AAEX), you need to perform the basic configuration before you can start working with it. You can perform the basic configuration steps using the SAP NetWeaver configuration wizard.
The Wizard performs the following configuration steps:
Creates service and dialog users
Assigns roles to the users
Creates user groups and assigns their roles
Initializes and configures the System Landscape Directory (SLD)
Sets the AII configuration service properties
Imports ESR content
Before you start the SAP NetWeaver configuration wizard to configure AAEX, the PI Advanced Adapter Engine Extended must have been installed using the installation tool (SAPInst). All PI services must be running.
It is recommended that you ensure that the following software components are updated to the most recent versions:

LM CONFIGURATION (LMCFG)
LM CONFIGURATION WIZARD (LMCTC)
Advanced Adapter Engine Extended
MESSAGING SYSTEM SERVICE (MESSAGING)
XI ADAPTER FRAMEWORK (SAPXIAF)
XI TOOLS (SAPXITOOL)
ESR (SAPXIESR)
PI GUILIB (SAPXIGUILIB)
Configuring AEX
To configure AAEX, perform the following steps:
In the SAP NetWeaver configuration wizard, choose Functional Unit Configuration UI .
Select the PI group and Functional Unit AEX .
All the Functional Units required are selected automatically.
When the wizard has completed the configuration, reboot the system.
Checking the AEX Configuration
To check that the configuration was successful, perform the following steps:
Check the user names and roles.
Go to the J2EE Engine start page at: http://<host>:<port> .
Go to User Management .
Search for the user names that you specified in the configuration wizard.
Go to the Roles tab and check that the UME roles were assigned.
Appropriate roles assigned must be assigned to all users.

Check the Java System Properties.
In the SAP NetWeaver Administrator, choose
Go to the Services tab and check XPI Service: AII Config Service .
The property com.sap.aii.ibrep.core.usage_type should have the value AEX .
Check also that the *.serviceuser.name properties contain the correct user names.
Check the content import.
Start the Enterprise Services Repository (ESR) and log on as PISUPER .
Check whether the content import was successful.
Check whether the SLD registration of the ESR is correct.
