Use

The Alphanumeric Fullscreen Editor provides an environment for designing screens for ABAP programs.

Features

The Alphanumeric Fullscreen Editor uses alphanumeric characters to display graphical elements. It has the same functions as the Graphical Layout Editor. The difference between the two is in the way you create graphical elements and in the way they are displayed on the screen.

Note

You use the Alphanumeric Layout Editor in cases when it is not possible to use the Graphical Layout Editor: when you use a non-Windows platform, a non-Windows SAP GUI, an outdated SAP GUI for Windows, or SAP systems protected by a firewall.

Activities

Starting the Alphanumeric Layout Editor

  1. In the Object Navigator (transaction SE80), navigate to your program.
  2. Open the screen you want to edit.
  3. Choose Utilities → Settings → Screen Painter. Deselect the Graphical layout editor indicator.
  4. Choose the Layout pushbutton.
    Note

GUI Dependency: The Graphical Layout Editor of the Screen Painter is part of the SAP GUI and can be started only in SAP Web Application Server 6.10 with SAP GUI Release 6.10 or later.
