Some recipients of Internet messages do not send back confirmations of receipt. This is usually because the recipient is using an older version of the Internet mail protocol. This has the following effects in the SAP system:
The sender in the SAP system does not get a receipt confirmation receipt from these receivers (no status is returned and it is not possible to get an a notification by e-mail).
The send status of the messages to these recipients remains as In Transit in SAPconnect administration.
If you know such recipients and do not want the status to remain as In transit, you can specify that a status is not requested for these recipients. This means that the status Sent successfully (that is, transmitted by the external communication system to the Internet) is regarded as the final status for messages to these recipients.
The status is requested using the settings that are stored. If no status is requested, the outbound mail is set to a final status in SAPconnect administration.
For the inbound status you can set when you want to send a notification by e-mail to the original sender in SOADM under on the Inbound Status tab page.
