
Roles are collections of activities used in specific business scenarios. Transactions, reports, or Web-based applications contained in roles are accessed through user menus. You can find numerous predefined roles in the standard SAP system.
When a role is assigned, a menu is provided for a user, which appears when the user logs on to the system. Assigning roles ensures the integrity of business data. Authorization roles are generated for the activities contained in the roles, and these restrict the activities individual users can perform.
SAP Workplace provides a portal in the Web browser for users to run their applications from. Here roles can be assigned too.
By adding or deleting entries, system administration can adjust the user menu to the personal requirements of the respective user.
