 Weighting of Properties for SearchLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

You can give properties a weighting to be taken into account for a TREX search.

Documents with properties with a higher weighting are placed higher up in the search result list than documents whose properties have less weighting.

Features

Configuration

To give a property a weighting, enter the following into the configuration of the property in the parameter Additional Metadata.

IndexWeight=<weighting value>.

The value should be above 100 or below 100. It cannot be exactly 100.

Tip

IndexWeight=95

IndexWeight=103.4

The specified value is automatically divided by 100 and sent to TREX. This is used internally as, for example, 0.95 or 1.034.

Note

No reindexing is necessary after the configuration.

Limitation

You can only specify a weighting for properties of type Text. For all other types and for properties that can have multiple values (Multi-Valued parameter), the weighting is 100 (1 TREX-internally).

Example

You want to give the property Owner an average weighting.

To configure the property, choose Content Management → Global Services → Property Metadata → Properties.

Enter the following into the parameter Additional Metadata: IndexWeight=140.

Save the changes. When a search takes place, all documents with the property Owner have a higher weighting in the search result list. Documents without the property Owner receive a lower weighting.
