Creating a Domain in a Central SystemLocate this document in the navigation structure

Prerequisites

You are in a system that is marked as a central system.

Context

In the central system, domains are used to group systems that are managed by the central system between which web service connections need to be established. All domain systems that you add to a domain have to share the same security and proxy settings for web service configuration. In the domain, you define the security and proxy settings for all connections within the domain.

During the creation of a domain, you assign it a priority. If a connection between two systems that belong to more than one common domain is supposed to be created, the security and proxy setttings of the domain with the lower priority is used.

Procedure

  1. In SOA Manager (transaction code SOAMANAGER) on the Technical Administration tab, choose Domains.

    A list of all available domains with its priorities and statuses is displayed. You can edit, delete and check the domains in this list.

  2. To create a new domain, choose Create and specify a name, a priority and a description.
  3. Choose the appropriate authentication method and transport security.
  4. Under Domain Systems, choose the domain systems you want to add to your domain.
  5. You can either activate your domain here or in the overview of all domains. Connections between domain systems can only be established if they share an active domain.
  6. Save your domain.
  7. In order to distribute the domain settings to your domain systems, start the change processor in the central system.

Results

The settings made in the domain on the central system are distributed into all participating systems as a versioned configuration profile. Note that this distribution is done automatically with the help of the change processor.
