OLTP System

Business Information Warehouse

Client System:

All application data is client-dependent.

All tables are client-independent.

The MANDT (client) field used to separate data belonging to different customers is:

the first key field in all tables.

not available in the tables.

Customers are able to log on only in their own client. Requests to the database are sent automatically with the right client field. This means that a customer is not able to access data that belongs to another customer.

Customers build their own data models, or activate the pre-configured data models delivered by SAP as Business Content. The tables for master data and transaction data are therefore created without the MANDT (client) field.

For technical reasons (number ranges for dimensions and master data IDs) a BW system is run in exactly one client.
