Use

The inbox service provides the following elements in the universal worklist:

  • A user's workflow items (for example, documents submitted for review)
  • Notifications about subscribed resources
  • Feedback messages on resources created by the user
  • Knowledge Management and Collaboration (KMC) data archiving notifications

The inbox allows for direct access to the resources involved. For more information, see Notifications for Folders in the Universal Worklist .

Features

Inbox items are stored as XML data in the various repositories used for user-specific, group-specific, and role-specific data. For each category of inbox items (for example, rejected approval workflow items, notifications about subscribed items, or notifications about subscriptions,) the notifications are stored in a separate directory. Metadata for each notification and for associated resources is stored in the database.

Definitions of various categories of inbox items (for example, rejected approval workflow items, notifications about subscribed items, notifications about subscriptions, and so on) are specified in XML format in the /etc repository.
