Display Other Target LanguagesLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

While translating in the short text editor , you can use functions in the menu bar that enable you to display source texts in other target languages. For information on how to display proposal pool entries for a specific source text in a different target language, see Functions in the Short Text Editor and refer to the section about displaying the contents of the proposal pool for a source text.

Procedure

To display the source text line on which your cursor is currently positioned in a different target language, proceed as follows:

  1. Choose Start of the navigation path Goto Next navigation step Display Other Target Language End of the navigation path.

  2. If you have not maintained the Text Display in Other Language field in your language settings, the Target Language dialog box appears. Select a target language with a double-click.

    For more information on the language settings, refer to Transaction SE63 and read the section "Defining Your Translator Settings".

    The system displays a separate window that lists all of the source texts in the object, together with their translations in the selected target language.

  3. To close this window, choose Continue .

To display the source text line on which your cursor is currently positioned in all of the target languages that exist in the system, proceed as follows:

  1. Choose Start of the navigation path Goto Next navigation step Display All Available Languages End of the navigation path.

  2. The system displays a separate window containing the source text in all of the languages in the system. To close this window, choose Continue .

Note

At this time, the Display All Available Languages function is only implemented for text elements (meta object type REPT) and tables (meta object type TABL) in the area of ABAP translation. In the area of non-ABAP translation, this function is available for fragments (object type X.)

To display the source texts of a related object in a different target language, proceed as follows:

  1. Choose Start of the navigation path Goto Next navigation step Other Target Language (Related Objects) End of the navigation path.

  2. If you have not maintained the Text Display in Other Language field in your language settings, the Target Language dialog box appears. Select a target language with a double-click.

  3. If the system finds more than one related object, the Object Selection dialog box appears, listing all of the related objects. Select the related object whose source texts you want to display in a different target language.

    The system displays a separate window that lists all of the source texts in the object, together with their translations in the selected target language.

  4. To close this window, choose Continue .
