Managing Database LandscapesLocate this document in the navigation structure

Context

In Database Studio, database landscapes are used for organizing multiple database computers (servers) for easier access and administration.

Procedure

  • Creating New Database Landscapes
    1. In the explorer tree, go to the top level using the Up One Level button.

    2. In the context menu of Local, choose Start of the navigation path New Next navigation step Landscape End of the navigation path.

    3. Enter a landscape name.

    4. Add database computers and databases to the landscape.

  • Importing Database Landscapes from Database Manager GUI

    Start Database Studio from the command line using the -ldf <landscape_definition_file> call option.

  • Exporting and Importing Database Landscapes
    1. Choose the landscape node you wish to export.

    2. Expand all relevant server nodes so that you can see all databases of the choosen landscape.

    3. Use in the context menu the function Export Landscape-XML. You export the landscape with all databases visible in an xml-structured file.

    4. Use in the context menu the function Import Landscape-XML to import a landscape from an xml-structured file.
