CompositeProviderLocate this document in the navigation structure

A CompositeProvider is an InfoProvider that combines data from several analytic indexes or from other InfoProviders (by union or inner join or left outer join), and makes this data available for reporting and analysis.

Storing the data in BW Accelerator or in the SAP HANA database also ensures faster access to data in the query.

There are three modeling areas for CompositeProviders, which are configured for different user groups and application areas.

  • In BW Workspace Designer:

Business users can easily combine their own data from files with data from BW (DataSources, queries, or InfoProviders).

More information: Creating CompositeProviders in BW Workspace Designer

  • In Analysis Process Designer (APD):

Administrators can flexibly combine data from multiple analytic indexes in a graphical environment to quickly create a prototype. The data for the analytic indexes can be taken from both the possible data sources of the APD or from SAP HANA models.

More information: Creating CompositeProviders in Analysis Process Designer

  • In the Data Warehousing Workbench

Administrators can flexibly combine data from multiple InfoProviders and analytic indexes in a graphical environment. The CompositeProvider offers more options than working with InfoSets or MultiProviders. You should always check carefully however when using the CompositeProvider to make sure that you achieve the desired result.

The authorizations for working with CompositeProviders are assigned using authorization object S_RS_CPRO.

The analysis authorizations are created from a combination of the authorizations for the CompositeProvider and the authorizations for its subobjects. For more information and an example, see: Authorizations for CompositeProviders

Prerequisites

You are using a SAP HANA database or a SAP NetWeaver BW Accelerator.

Restrictions

A CompositeProvider can only be transported if it consists solely of InfoProviders.

You cannot use non-cumulative key figures in a CompositeProvider.

For real-time InfoCubes, the open request is not read in the query, even if you have made the corresponding data integrity setting in Query Designer.
