Customizing in a Productive SystemLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

Customizing settings must not be changed during productive operation, so the productive system is locked for customizing. There are, however, certain cases in which customizing settings must nevertheless be made in the productive system (for example, enter currency exchange rates). SAP provides ongoing settings, with which the customer can make customizing settings from the productive system, for this case.

Prerequisites

The Ongoing Settings flag is set in the transaction SOBJ for the customizing object used in the maintenance object. This flag is in the object header data.

Features

When a maintenance object is created in SIMGH, a parameter transaction, which is usually not displayed, is generated when it is saved. When you enter a customizing object which is flagged as ongoing settings in SOBJ, as maintenance object in the transaction SIMGH, the parameter transaction is displayed in the IMG activity header data. To be able to make customizing settings from the productive system, you must put this parameter transaction in the appropriate area menu with the transaction SE43.

Activities
  1. Enter the transaction code SE43 in the command field.

  2. Enter the area menu in which the ongoing settings are to be put, or choose one from the possible entries help.

(The name of the area menu is under Start of the navigation path System Next navigation step Status End of the navigation path in the Program field in each application).

  3. Choose Start of the navigation path Area menu Next navigation step Change End of the navigation path.

  4. Expand the area menu structure and position the cursor on the menu item under which the ongoing settings are to be inserted.

  5. Choose Start of the navigation path Edit Next navigation step Insert Menu Entry Next navigation step One Level Lower End of the navigation path or At the Same Level.

  6. Enter a menu text and the parameter transaction from the IMG activity header data, in the Make New Entries window.

  7. Choose Insert Entries (Enter).

  8. Save the changed area menu structure.

  9. You can test the jump to the customizing tables in display mode.
