Restrict Synchronization Object ReleaseLocate this document in the navigation structure

Context

The table and field assignments of a synchronization object can differ between releases. You want to restrict the validity of a synchronization object definition with its table and field assignments, to a release interval. You can restrict the definition for both the source and target components.

You can:

  • Create several synchronization objects with the same name but different mappings, for different releases.

  • Change the release interval for a synchronization object.

    Caution

If the target table changes between source releases, you must create two synchronization objects, to avoid data inconsistencies in the Customizing Distribution.

Prerequisites

You are in the synchronization object specification tool initial screen.

Procedure

  1. Choose a target component and an initial release.

A list of existing synchronization objects is displayed.

  2. Select an object and choose Edit Release Interval.

You go to the Synchronization Objects: Manage Intervals dialog screen.

  3. Split Interval: To create different mappings for different releases for a synchronization object:

Choose Split Interval and then choose an upper release limit up to which your synchronization object is to apply, for the source or target component.

    Choose Check.

If the check is successful, a new synchronization object is created automatically for releases above your upper limit, and displayed in the table at the top of the dialog box.

    Note

You can repeat this procedure any number of times, to define a synchronization object with different mappings for different releases.

  4. Move Interval Limits: To move the release limits for a synchronization object:

    1. Choose an object in the table in the dialog box.

    2. Choose the limit which you want to change.

    3. Choose a release.

    4. Choose Check.

The system adjusts the release interval limits of the other synchronization objects with this name, so that the intervals are contiguous.

  5. Save your data.

Results

The system now contains two synchronization objects with the same names and the same mapping definition, but for different releases, or the system has changed the definitions of synchronization objects. You can now edit the synchronization objects, if necessary, for example, change the mapping type for some releases, or assign tables and fields.

You should check the synchronization objects.
