Sorting Documents in a Folder ManuallyLocate this document in the navigation structure

Prerequisites

You have write permission for the folder.

Context

If the documents in a folder must be arranged in a specific order, you can sort the content of the folder manually.

As soon as you activate manual sorting for a folder, the corresponding commands are available in the context menu for the documents.

Example

For example, you sort the chapters of a technical manual into their logical order.

You can still sort manually sorted documents according to certain criteria, for example, by name.

Procedure


  1. Activate manual sorting.

    1. Open the Details dialog box for the folder.

    2. Choose Start of the navigation path Settings  Next navigation step Manual Ordering End of the navigation path.

    3. Choose Enable Manual Ordering .

      Note

      Subordinate folders do not inherit these settings.

  2. To change the position of a document in the folder, choose the option required under Sorting in the context menu for the document, for example, Move Up .

    Note

    In the standard system, these commands are available only in iViews for administrators and content managers.
