Creating Template GroupsLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

Grouping templates has the following benefits:

  • You can activate related templates together for use in folders.

  • You can generate submenus with nested menu structures in the New menu.

Prerequisites

You have write permission for the folder for template groups (default setting: /documents/Templates/ TemplateGroups ).

Procedure
  1. Create a subfolder for each template group in the /documents/Templates/TemplateGroups / folder:

The system displays the name of the subfolder in menus.

  2. Navigate to the template group. To add content to the template group, proceed as follows:

    • Create links to single templates.

      Example: Link to /documents/Templates/SingleTemplates/< myTemplate.doc >

      This is the standard procedure.

    • To nest template groups, create links to other template groups.

Example: Link to /documents/Templates/TemplateGroups/< myOtherTemplateGroup >

    • To create templates that are only available in this group, you upload documents to the /documents/Templates/TemplateGroups/< myTemplateGroup > folder.

  3. Define permissions for the template group.

    1. Open the Details dialog box for the template group.

    2. Choose Start of the navigation path Settings  Next navigation step Permissions End of the navigation path.

    3. Give read permission to authors who need to use the template group.

Authors also require write permission for folders in which they are to create new items.

Creating a Default Template Group.

You can create a default template group as described above. The default template group must be located in the folder for template groups and have the ID Default .

Templates in this group are available in all folders. Manual assignment of templates overrides the default template group.
