Including a Knowledge Management Folder as a Web FolderLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

You can include a Knowledge Management folder as a Web folder in Windows → Explorer. This enables direct access to KM folders in SAP Enterprise Portal from the Desktop of your PC. You can, for example, copy files from your local PC to a KM folder from Windows → Explorer.

Procedure

The procedure below describes how you include a KM folder as a network drive using Windows → 2000. The procedure may deviate from that described below if you are using a different version of Windows.

  1. In the portal, open the Details dialog box for the folder in question, and choose Start of the navigation path Settings Next navigation step Properties  Next navigation step Access Links.  End of the navigation path

  2. Select the entire content of the field WebDAV URL , and copy the URL into the Windows clipboard using Ctrl + c.

  3. Click My Network Places on your desktop using the secondary mouse button, and choose Map Network Drive from the context menu.

  4. Choose Create a shortcut to a Web folder or FTP site .

  5. Insert the WebDAV URL from the clipboard into the input field using Ctrl + v.

    If a folder name contains spaces, you have to replace them with the character sequence %20 . For example, you would replace /Public Documents with /Public%20Documents .

  6. Choose Next .

  7. You are asked for authentication. Enter your user name and password for the Enterprise Portal. Confirm them with OK .

  8. Enter a display name for the folder in the Explorer, and choose Finish .

  9. The KM folder is opened on your desktop. Before the contents are displayed, you are asked for authentication again. Enter your user name and password for the portal. Confirm them with OK .

Result

You have included a KM Management folder as a Web folder. You can find the folder under the My Network Places symbol on your desktop and in the Windows Explorer.
