Overview

SAP Internet Transaction Server (SAP ITS) is implemented as an Internet Communication Framework (ICF) service. Like other ICF services, the ITS is accessed through the Internet Communication Manager (ICM).

The following figure shows an SAP Web Application Server with an integrated ITS:

Figure 1: SAP Web AS with an Integrated ITS

With the SAP NetWeaver Application Server with integrated ITS functionality, the Web browser communicates directly with the SAP system. No additional files have to be installed on the server file system. Templates and MIME files are stored in the database and the settings that were previously made with the service parameter files ( *.srvc) are now mostly maintained in transaction SICF. For more information, see Service Parameters.

Since the ITS is a component of the SAP NetWeaver, you can only use it to log on to the SAP system it is part of.

You do not have to set up a separate Web server, the ICM now does this.
Note

The ITS exclusively supports screen-based applications. Therefore, programs based on the programming models ITS Flow Logic, WebReporting, WebRFC or GUI XT can no longer run with the integrated ITS.

ITS uses standard SAP work processes. Session handling is taken care of by the ICF session management. Configuration parameters for the ITS are set in the standard transactions (RZ11, SICF).

There are no global settings for ITS services.
