Use

This section describes the configuration tasks, which you can perform after you have installed the SAP NetWeaver Application Server for Java (AS Java). The installation procedure provides a system that is ready to be run and used. However, you may need to configure AS Java additionally to adapt the system to the needs and requirements of your business scenario.

The AS Java configuration process may include the following steps:

  • Functional Unit Configuration

You can automatically configure your system directly after the installation using the functional unit configuration tool, which makes the technical settings for Java functional units.

  • Mandatory Configuration Tasks

These are the configuration tasks that you will need to perform directly after installation to ensure the proper functioning of your system.

  • Optional Configuration Tasks

Depending on your development scenario you may have some additional components, such as the Services Registry. The installation of such components usually requires additional configuration.

During installation, the configuration template applied contains the optimal values for the parameters of the core system modules, based on the scenario in which you will run your AS Java. However, there are also some advanced configuration tasks, which you can perform if you want to fine tune the system to best fit your needs.
