Clustering AS JavaLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

The cluster is a set of processes that work together to build a scalable and reliable system. The cluster structure is transparent to the clients and appears to them as a single server unit. An appropriate cluster setup is one of the main prerequisites for the efficient performance of your system.

The AS Java cluster consists of one or more Java instances (Internet Communication Manager and one or several server processes), the Central services instance (Message Service and Enqueue Service), and the database.

More information AS Java Cluster Architecture .

The AS Java cluster components form the initial system configuration. The configuration template applied during installation contains the optimal values for the parameters of your AS Java system, based on the scenario in which you will run the system, your operational system, and your hardware resources.

Note

The default template applied during the installation procedure is designed to support clusters containing no more than four Java instances with four server processes each. If you need to have larger clusters, change the default system configuration.

Features

Clustering provides the following advantages:

  • Scalability of the system - in case of high system load, you can easily enlarge the current system.

  • High availability of the system - the set of mechanisms that the system provides to guarantee normal system operation with its ability to transparently recover in case of failures within the cluster.

AS Java Cluster Setup

When installing AS Java, you can choose to install the necessary components on a single host or on different hosts.

If the system load is greater than expected and the cluster that you have initially set up does not scale well, you can resize it by:
