Measuring Browser Client PerformanceLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

You can use Web Dynpro Console to display performance measurements for the Java client, the Browser client and the Windows client. This allows you to obtain measurement data for all clients in Web Dynpro's renderer technology. The resulting measurement data can then be used to analyze performance problems encountered by the client in a Web Dynpro application.

The data tells you the average time consumed by the client for all browser instances over a given period of time. The values for the total time of all calls, the average time, and the maximum and minimum times for a parse call are displayed in a single table.

Prerequisites
  1. You have administrator rights for the Java Engine or for SAP NetWeaver Portal.
  2. Web Dynpro Console has been launched.
Procedure
  1. In the administration menu, choose Performance → Client and start the new measurement process for a given period of time by pressing Start. This triggers the client monitoring. This pushbutton now changes into a stop button that you can use later to stop the measurement process. The RoadMap UI element shows the individual steps of the measurement process.

  2. Open the Web Dynpro application to be tested in a separate browser window.
  3. Interact with the user interface by triggering an action or by navigating to a table and selecting a row. To ensure that you receive the performance measurement data, this interaction must involve a round trip to the server. Switch back to Web Dynpro Console.
  4. Stop the measurement process by pressing the Stop pushbutton. The measured data is automatically loaded in the table when the measurement process is stopped.
  5. Go to Browser Clients, where the performance data is displayed.
