Processing DEMS Objects for Quality AssuranceLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

The aim of processing DEMS objects for quality assurance is to check that the correct proposals exist for the source texts listed. For example:

  • Is this the correct translation for the source text?

  • Is the proposal created as the correct type of proposal?

  • Does the proposal have the most suitable quality status?

  • Do too many proposals exist for the source text?

If you find any incorrect translations, wrong types of proposal, unsuitable quality statuses, too many proposals, and so on, you can make the required corrections as described below under Procedure .

Changing and deleting proposals can cause modified lines. Read DEMS Objects for Quality Assurance carefully before you begin.

Prerequisites
  • Read the documentation on the proposal pool and automatic distribution carefully, so that you are aware of the consequences of deleting proposals, changing proposals, and distributing an unsuitable translation, and the work involved in dealing with these consequences.

  • You need to know the technical names of the DEMS objects you want to process. If you have a number of DEMS objects and more than one translator available to process the DEMS objects for your target language, decide on the objects that each translator will process.

  • To minimize the number of modified lines caused by cleaning up the proposal pool via DEMS objects, you need to be able to create proposals with quality status A, to ensure maximum distribution potential after the cleanup. Your translator profile must therefore contain authorization PPQ1 (Assign Quality Status) with value 04 (Level 4).

Procedure

There are two different ways of calling up DEMS objects for processing:

  • Directly in SE63

This is the simplest way to access a DEMS object for processing. You can only call up one object at a time, and you cannot see how many lines you have processed in each object, until you call the object up.

  • Using a worklist

Calling up DEMS objects using a worklist means that you enjoy all the benefits that the worklist screen offers, such as sequential processing and the fact that the processing status of each line of each DEMS object is displayed in the worklist screen. To be able to use this option, your user requires authorization object S_ADMI_FCD with value TRNR .

Calling Up One DEMS Object Directly

  1. Call transaction SE63.

  2. Enter dems in the command field and choose Enter .

  3. Choose F4 on the Object Name field and double-click the DEMS object you want to process in the list that appears.

  4. Check that the translation area, source language and target language are correct, and choose Edit.

Using a Worklist to Call Up DEMS Objects

  1. Call transaction LXE_MASTER.

  2. Choose Start of the navigation path DEMS Objects Next navigation step Administration End of the navigation path.

  3. Ensure that the Object Name field contains *, then choose Select Objects .

  4. Choose Display/Change Selection .

The system displays a list of all DEMS objects available in the system.

  5. Double-click the top node of the hierarchy ( Choose Objects ) to deselect all the DEMS objects, and then double-click the DEMS objects that you want to process.

  6. Choose Execute.

  7. Under Analysis , choose Branch to Worklist .

  8. Double-click your source language in the dialog box that appears.

  9. Double-click your target language in the next dialog box that appears.

The system displays the DEMS objects you selected in a worklist structure. For more information, see Translating Objects via a Worklist .

Processing Source Texts in DEMS Objects

For each source text in the DEMS object, branch to the proposal pool to check the proposal(s) that already exist(s) for this source text. Ask yourself the questions listed above under Use.

For information on the functions available to change or delete a proposal, or to change its quality status, see Proposal Pool Maintenance .

Before you delete or change a proposal, you may want to contact the user who created it. To find out the creator of a proposal, see Displaying Details for a Proposal .

Finishing Processing of a DEMS Object

  1. Choose Save .

  2. Choose Back (F3).

  3. Repeat for the next DEMS object you need to process.

  4. After you have finished processing DEMS objects, report back to the person responsible for running evaluations, so that he or she can start an evaluation with automatic distribution.

Result

After checking the results, an evaluation with automatic distribution must take place. As long as the distribution parameters are set correctly for modified lines, and you have created new proposals with status A after deleting incorrect proposals, the number of modified lines resulting from a proposal pool cleanup should not be too high.
